Black Music & Rebellion: 60 Years of Punk

As punk approaches its 60th anniversary, join broadcaster Ritche Brave and guests for a thought-provoking discussion exploring the often-overlooked relationship between Black music, Black British culture and the development of punk.

Punk did not emerge in isolation. It grew out of a Britain shaped by migration, working-class communities, racial tensions and youth rebellion. Camden became one of the places where these movements collided, helping to create a culture that redefined identity.

From reggae, ska, rocksteady, dub and soul to funk, blues and Caribbean sound-system culture, Black music helped create the musical, political and visual landscape from which punk emerged.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) - a 50+ times award winning charity committed to providing hope to patients living with blood cancer and illnesses where a matched donor (stem cell, blood or organ) is required to save a life.
