Share Your LGBTQ+ Camden Story
Camden has a long and proud LGBTQ+ history. It's been home to activists like Antony Grey, Kathlyn Oliver, and Mark Ashton, alongside literary icons such as Virginia Woolf and Amy Levy.
Pioneering spaces like Gay’s the Word bookshop and the Camden Black Lesbian’s Group have been established here, as have iconic venues like The Black Cap and The Caravan Club.
Now, we want to hear your stories!
Calling All LGBTQ+ Voices in Camden!
The Camden People’s Museum is creating a space to celebrate the rich LGBTQ+ history and culture of Camden.
For LGBT+ History Month, we’re shining a spotlight on activism and social change, but we also want to hear all kinds of stories related to Camden — because every experience adds to the rich tapestry of Camden’s LGBTQ+ history.
Whether your story is about:
Protests and activism
Theatre or music
Iconic pubs, clubs, and venues
Businesses or community groups
Books, film, or historic landmarks
We want to hear from you!
How to Get Involved
We’d love to include photos that reflect or accompany your story. If possible, please share a photo of yourself from the time/place you’re writing about. This helps bring your story to life!
