Artist opportunity at the Musem of Youth Culture

Two open orange filing cabinet drawers filled with labeled files

We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Museum of Youth Culture to launch a brand-new artist residency, in partnership with Camden Local Studies & Archives Centre and supported by The National Archives.

This special opportunity comes as we celebrate two major milestones - Camden Council turning 60, and the Museum of Youth Culture opening its very first permanent home, right here in Camden on Georgiana Street!

What’s the opportunity?
We’re looking for a locally connected artist to join us on Camden Calling - a creative journey to uncover and reimagine hidden gems from the borough’s archives.

As artist-in-residence, you’ll dive into 60 years of youth culture through the museum’s collections and Camden’s local archives, as well as taking part in community archiving events exploring the question “What makes Camden unique?”.

Inspired by the archives and community stories, you will produce an artwork for the public realm as part of the innovative Camden High Street Pedestrianisation Programme. Exciting stuff!
