Do I need planning permission?
Planning permission is not usually needed where part of your home is used for business purposes. This is if its overall character does not change.
However, you may need to apply for full planning permission to work from home if:
- your home is no longer used mainly as a private residence
- your business leads to a marked rise in traffic or people calling
- your business involves any activities considered unusual in a residential area
- your business disturbs your neighbours at unreasonable hours or causes other nuisance such as noise or smells.
Where can I find more information?

Can I get confirmation that I do not require planning permission?
