Overview

A Taxicard provides subsidised transport for London residents who have serious mobility impairment and difficulty in using public transport. Taxicard holders can make journeys in licensed London taxis and private hire vehicles.

Who can apply?

You may qualify if you live in a London borough and you:

  • receive the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance
  • have 8 or more points for the moving around activity component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • receive a Pensioners' Mobility Supplement
  • are registered blind or severely sight impaired and have a BD8/CVI certificate

You may also qualify if you have a long term mobility problem preventing you from using public transport. You may need to complete a mobility assessment with an occupational therapist. You do not qualify if you have a temporary condition, such as a broken leg.

What happens next

A Taxicard will be sent to you within 4 to 8 weeks if you qualify.

Costs

There is a £10 annual membership fee.

You will pay the first £2.50 of each trip. The maximum we pay and the fare limit depends on the time of the trip.

5am to 8pm, Monday to Friday:

  • £10.30 trip subsidy
  • £12.80 fare limit

8pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday and 5am to 10pm, Saturday to Sunday:

  • £11.30 trip subsidy
  • £13.80 fare limit

10pm to 5am, Monday to Sunday:

  • £12.80 trip subsidy
  • £15.30 fare limit
