How do I pay my council tax?
By direct debit
Direct debit is the most economical way to pay and you don't have to remember to make your payment. You also have the reassurance of the direct debit guarantee.
Set up a direct debit by post

Editing direct debit details
By debit/credit card, including online payments
Have your card details and council tax account reference ready then phone 020 7974 6104
We can arrange for you to pay this way over the telephone.
Your information – your security
It has come to our attention that residents have been receiving telephone calls from individuals pretending to be Council Officers. They have been asking residents to provide their personal bank details in order that they can claim a council tax refund, or ask you for money to check your council tax band.
We never ring residents to ask for or confirm bank details unless we have agreed to do so in advance. We will only take them when customers call us to set up a direct debit or discuss their account which leads to a direct debit arrangement.

At the post office
There is no longer a charge for paying your council tax at a Post Office branch.
To ensure that you do not get charged for this service, you will need to bring with you your letter, which we recently sent out to you. The letter contains your new Post Office barcode, which you will need to make a payment.
If you did not receive a letter or have misplaced it then please contact the council tax team on 020 7974 6470 and they will arrange for a new bill to be sent to you.
There will be a charge if you do not show this letter when making a payment at a Post Office branch.
All other payment methods, including via PayPoint agents, remain unchanged.
If you have any questions please check our council tax pages or you can phone us on 020 7974 6470.
Please always allow adequate time for your payment to reach your account by the due date.
In most cases instalments must be received by the first day of every month, from April to January.
Please avoid sending cheques by post. We have limited facilities for dealing with these and there will be a delay crediting the payment to your account.
If you have no other choice but to send a cheque, please ensure you write your council tax account number correctly and clearly on the back.
