About your library

Highgate library is open for customers to browse and choose their own books, visit the children's library, and use our public computers. 

You don’t need to book a computer in advance, PCs are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Access is limited to two hours per day.You can also scan, print and photocopy documents.

You can return any outstanding books, DVDs or CDs on loan within the opening hours.

Children's activities at Highgate Library

We have a great range of activities for children at Highgate Library:

  • Tuesday - 11am to 12noon - Singing Stories, for babies and toddlers
  • Wednesday - 10.30am to 11am - Rhyme Time, with Fahd 
  • Thursday - 10am to 11.30am - Under 5s Toy Library - drop-in
  • Thursday - 5.30pm to 6.30pm - Chess Club, for ages 5-13

At the moment the Toy Library takes place in the Children's Library; the other activities take place in the Hall, entrance on Croftdown Road.

The Toy Library is organised by the Friends of Highgate Library, with a grant from Camden's Community Infrastructure Levy. 

Singing Stories is presented by Highgate Chrysalis. 

The Chess Club is run by James, from Chess in Schools.

Rhyme Time is usually run by Fahd, from Highgate Library.
