Swiss Cottage Library

Swiss Cottage Library

A limited area of the building is still closed to public and staff use. This is to allow contractors to complete the building work.  Note that it is possible to reserve items from Swiss Cottage again now.

Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Open+ back in libraries

From Monday 14 February we started to use the Open+ door entry system again at five of our libraries.

So if you come to one of the libraries before 12pm, you need to bring your library card and PIN number with you to enter:

The five libraries are:

  • Camden Town
  • Kentish Town
  • Kilburn
  • Queens Crescent
  • West Hampstead

If you don't have a current library card, or you have forgotten your PIN number, please speak to a member of staff.

Increasing computer time

Library users can now use our computers for a maximum of four hours per day (but only for two hours on Sundays at Pancras Square).

If you are visiting a library for computer access you don’t need to book a place, computers are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

You can print from our computers using your library card, and pay with contactless, card or cash, at our self-service machines.

Limited copying is available on our public photocopiers.  Please note this is self-service only, and limited to five A4 copies.

Scanning facilities are available in all libraries.

We ask you to continue wearing face coverings inside our libraries, unless you are exempt.  This is to protect other customers and staff as well as yourself.

Keeping everyone safe

COVID-19 is still here so we continue to have measures in place at our libraries to protect visitors and staff, including:

  • hand sanitiser at entrances
  • cleaning materials for users to wipe down keyboards, mouses and workspaces
  • people can also choose to wear a face covering in indoor public space

Cases are high across London so if you do develop any COVID-19 symptoms, feel unwell or test positive you are strongly encouraged to stay at home and avoid contact with others, if you can.

The COVID-19 vaccine is still the best way to protect yourself and others from the virus and serious illness. If you haven’t had a first, second or booster dose, it’s not too late. Everyone aged 5 and over is eligible. You can book an appointment via the NHS or visit one of the vaccination clinics open in Camden for a walk-in appointment.
