Business and trade parking permits

We offer parking permits for businesses and individuals where a vehicle is required for day-to-day operations.

North or South of Euston Road business permit: the two main types depend of where the business is based. The business must demonstrate an essential need for the viability of the business.

Repair and service garage permits: to park vehicles being repaired or serviced near to the garage when off-street parking is not sufficient.

Market traders: parking in a designated market trader bays. Each bay has a sign that is abbreviated with MKT or T for Market Traders.

Trade permits (formerly parking permissions): for builders, trades and other service providers engaged in work for a local resident or business who require on-street parking for their vehicle.

Business north of Euston Road

Business permit north of Euston Road (scheme B)

Who can apply?

Businesses based north of Euston Road that have an operational need for a vehicle for the viability of the business. The permit cannot be issued to simply facilitate the journey to and from work, nor can they be issued in circumstances where public transport offers a reasonable alternative to car use, or where the business has access to off-street parking.

The permit is not applicable for schools and any school applying will have their application refused.

The use of business permits on street is regularly monitored to ensure the parking pattern of vehicles reflects compliance with the terms of issue.

You will need to provide copies of the following:

  • vehicle registration document e.g. logbook V5
  • proof that the vehicle is insured for business purposes
  • Camden business rates bill or business lease agreement
  • evidence to show operational need: frequent visits are required to other premises in the course of work; heavy/valuable goods are transported on a regular basis in the operation of the business; unsociable hours are worked on a regular basis for essential reasons

Business permit south of Euston Road (scheme A)

Who can apply?

  • businesses based south of Euston Road (controlled parking zones CA-C, CA-D and CA-E)
  • have an operational need for a vehicle for the viability of the business: frequent visits are required to other premises in the course of work; heavy/valuable goods are transported on a regular basis in the operation of the business; unsociable hours are worked on a regular basis for essential reason
  • where the business does not have access to off street parking facilities, within or near the premises, these must also be used for operational purposes and not for general or commuter parking
  • a designated business bay will be created and a permit issued to allow parking in that bay for commercial vehicles only

Please note applications can take 3 to 6 months to process as the creation of new parking bays involves consultation and the production of traffic management orders.

Repair and service garages

Repair and service garage permits - North of Euston Road only (scheme C)

Who can apply?

Any vehicle repair/service garage north of Euston Road may apply for up to 10 permits for the purpose of leaving vehicles being repaired/serviced in resident permit bays near the garage. The Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is determined from the garage address.

These permits are issued for 12 months, see the fees and charges.

Market traders

Market trader parking permit

Who can apply?

A market trader permit entitles you to park your vehicle in a designated parking bay. You can only apply for a market traders permit if you are a holder of Camden’s full street trading licence. One permit is available per licence.

The permit is valid only for parking in market trader bays during the operational hours of the market and for periods that the licensee is actively trading. If found to be using a vehicle solely for storage or if found to be no longer trading, the permit may be withdrawn.

The parking bay or the vehicle using the parking bay cannot be used for the sale of goods, skills in handicraft or services.

Market trader permits can be issued to:

  • goods vehicles – must weigh less than 7.5 tonnes and carry no more than 9 people
  • passenger vehicles must carry no more than 13 people, not valid for trailers or motorcycles
  • for 6 or 12 months ​​​​​
