When you reach, or are just approaching the age of entitlement for an older person's Freedom Pass, you'll be moved across to an older person's Freedom Pass.

Check if you've reached the eligible age

We'll change your status and then in November or December, London Councils will make contact with you directly about your new older person's Freedom Pass.

A Disabled persons Freedom Pass gives free travel on:

• most public transport in London, 24 hours a day including the underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway and Croydon Tramlink.
• most National Rail services within the London area - after 9.30am on weekdays, all day on weekends and public holidays
• local bus services in the rest of England between 9.30am and 11.00pm Monday - Friday, all day day on weekends and public holidays

If the pass is used on National Rail beyond the Greater London area, the extra onward cost must be paid before boarding the train.

Who is eligible?

You can apply if you live in the borough of Camden. You will need to provide proof of address.

You may be eligible if you:

• are blind or partially sighted
• are profoundly or severely deaf
• are without speech
• have a disability, or have suffered an injury, which has had an effect on your ability to walk
• don’t have arms or have a long-term loss of the use of both arms
• have a learning disability
• would have your application for a driving licence refused for reasons other than because of drug or alcohol misuse

You’ll automatically qualify if you already qualify for:

• Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and score 8 points or more in the 'moving around' or ‘communications’ element
• Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
• War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
• Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI)

You must provide all the relevant pages of the PIP benefit letter

• proof of your sole or principal residence in Camden
• proof of age
• a passport-style photo
• appropriate medical evidence

What happens next

Your pass will be sent to you within 7 to 10 working days. If we need additional information we’ll contact you.

Passes issued by other London councils

You’ll need to complete a new application if your pass is issued by another London council. If you automatically qualify, you’ll need to provide a copy of your entitlement letter dated within the last 12 months.
