The School of Life
‘Described by some as a chemist for the mind, The School of Life offers classes aimed at guiding people on a path to living wisely.’
Our guest business for the month is The School of Life.
At a time when spirituality and introspection are more popular than ever, The School of Life is like a one-stop-shop for all your inner needs.
Based on the idea of providing good ideas for everyday living, the school is based in a small Bloomsbury shop and offers a variety of programmes and services concerned with how to live wisely and well.
Inside the shop, shelves are themed with sections such as ‘On Finding A Job You Love’, ‘On the Necessity of A Relationship’ and ‘On the God-Shaped Hole’ – all ripe with inspiration for original gifts.
Classes address questions such as why work is often unfulfilling, why relationships can be so challenging, why it’s ever harder to stay calm and what one could do to try to change the world for the better.
The School of Life is a place to step back and think intelligently about these and other concerns. You can be assured that you will not be cornered by dogma, but directed towards a variety of ideas - from philosophy to literature, psychology to the visual arts – that tickle, exercise and expand your mind. You’ll meet other curious, sociable and open-minded people in an atmosphere of exploration and enjoyment.
Events range in price from £12.50-£30.50, while whole day workshops start at £125, so instead of buying that new pair of shoes why not invest in something that’s good for the inside.
