Open Open 2018
9 August – 15 September 2018
Artwork submission dates: 21st, 28th July and 4th August 12-4pm
Preview 8 August, 17.30pm
The 2018 Open Open calls all artists, professional and amateur, from anywhere and any age, to bring along a piece of their artwork for exhibition. Recurring each year at Swiss Cottage Gallery, the Open Open provides a great opportunity for artists, professional and other, to show their work in a “salon style” exhibition.
To profile the work of women artists entering into this year’s Open Open in light of Camden VOX, women artists will share their practice and what it means to exhibit in the Open Open at this stage of their artistic development. Quiet Down There will be recording conversations with women artists during the hanging day on 4th August. The stories shared will be published in a series of short films on lovecamden.org.
As part of the show Quiet Down There will be hosting a speakers corner event inviting this year’s artists to reveal the stories behind their work with an audience on Saturday 1st September from 2pm. Open Open participants are invited to give five-minute micro presentations about their artwork in a fun and supportive speaker’s corner event.
This engagement will kick-start a dialogue around the inclusion of women artists in public collections and exhibitions.

About Camden VOX
This year’s annual arts programme, Camden VOX takes the Women’s Suffrage movement as inspiration and as a point of departure to explore ideas of equality, place, power and identity.
The aim is to celebrate and examine Camden’s unique spirit which is both rebellious, creative and progressive and to offer our residents and visitors to the borough a thought provoking and engaging programme. The title Camden VOX is taken from the Latin for voice.
