Joining with Central School of Speech and Drama, WAC is offering an entirely new experience this summer! All 14-25 year olds are invited to meet and work with some of the leading lights of the British theatre, film and music industries. An exciting programme of workshops, Q&A sessions, play readings, film showings and masterclasses, kicks off with a showing of Pressure - the first full-length drama feature film by a black director in Britain. Writer and director Horace Ove will then be taking part in a Q&A session looking at all aspects of the film and its production. This ground breaking Summer School runs for two weeks from Monday 30th July until Friday 10th August. Collaborating artists include singers Kevin Mark Trail (The Streets) and Joy Mack (The Harder They Come - Lovers Rock), and playwrights Che Walker (The Globe's The Frontline and Royal Court's Been So Long) and Roy Williams (Fallout ). There are also sessions with artistic director Dawn Walton (Eclipse Theatre Co) and members of the cast of West End production The Lion King . Actors Martina Laird (Casualty) and Danny Sapani (Misfits) will be working with students, fresh from their highly celebrated appearances in the recent National Theatre production of Moon on a Rainbow Shawl . WAC director, Celia Greenwood says, "Having supported many black artists into the profession for over thirty years, WAC is thrilled to be able to share their success with a new generation of emerging artists." The next bootcamp is going to be from Mon 16th July to Sat 21st July. It's only 6 days but we'll be working hard and having fun. Plus, this is going to have an Olympic theme - with a bit of imagination we'll be following the colours of the Olympic rings & flag and there will also be a fun challenge/competition every day relating to that theme. Here is the rough outline: Day 1 (6.15-7.15am) Black (Martial Arts) - kickboxing legs, punches etc Day 2 (6.15-7.15am) Red (it’s how your face will look at the end!) - cardio sprints and intervals Day 3 (6.15-7.15am) Blue (looking good by the pool or on the beach) - bum, abs and arms Day 4 (6-7.15am) Green (running through the park) - long cardio day Day 5 (6.15-7.15am) Yellow (looking like a Gold medal winner!) - legs and abs Day 6 (7.15-8.45am) White Flag - pick a country and come dressed as a colour from that flag! RECRO is holding a ‘Summer Eco Day’ to kick start the summer holiday. It promises to be an exciting day packed full of activities which include a nature trail, recycled craft, outdoor games and even yoga. Children will learn new skills and develop a renewed love for the great outdoors. It will also give them plenty of ideas to keep busy for the rest of the holiday! This event for children only, aged five to eleven, takes place on Monday 23rd July 2012 from 9.30 to 3pm in the beautiful surroundings of Waterlow Park (between Highgate and Archway).
