Alongside its food havens, Kentish Town has a mixture of your usual high street banks, phone stores and deliciously cheap homeware stores. But it also hosts a selection of independent stores that are unique and give the area a real local flavour.

Bowls of food at a buffet

Kentish Town is an upcoming area full of interesting shops, eateries, trendy bars and music. Food lovers should check out the organic food shops along Kentish Town Road. Camden’s musical legacy was partly developed in Kentish Town as it was once the place to buy a piano or organ.

The legacy lives on with many bars hosting bands regularly. But it’snot all music and organic food shops – some of the streets off the main drag are little treasures, showcasing some of the best terraces in London.

Going out in Kentish Town means live music and great pubs. Some of the venues have a long history while others are new, as this area continues to evolve.

The Abbey Tavern

With a bit of something for everyone – drinks, food, and of course, music. You can sit indoors on comfy couches or take a drink out onto the roof terrace or garden bar. Alongside the usual pub fare the Abbey Tavern does a range of Caribbean food to tempt the taste buds. Good music is played on Sunday and Tuesday and entry is free.

Kentish Town has a bustling local centre and there is lots to do beyond pubs and music venues, including unusual art galleries and even a city farm.

Little Green Street and Kelly Street

Hidden in Kentish Town are two fabulous streets that any visitor should sneak a peak at before they leave. Little Green Street is located just off Highgate Road and is one of the few intact Georgian Streets left in London.

This tiny cobbled street, which is mainly Grade II listed, has survived since 1780 and famously featured in the Kinks 1966 music video Dead End Street. Meanwhile if you are wandering along Kentish Town Road towards Camden Town you might catch a glimpse of a rainbow of colour - go ahead and stroll up and down Kelly Street for the colourful sensation of multi-coloured terraces.
