Hampstead Heath
You can’t visit Hampstead without taking in the rambling heath. As one of London’s largest parks it is a haven for outdoorsy types who like to run, fly kites, cycle and commune with nature. It is also an idyllic setting for picnicking, reading a book or basking in some summer sun. Head up to Parliament Hill for beautiful city views, take a dip in the famous ponds or just lose yourself wandering in an environment that is more country than urban London.

Seriously, one of my favourite places in London. I am lucky enough to live within a short walking distance and on a summer’s day- there’s literally no better place to be. I try and get there every weekend- weather permitting. In today’s day of computer technology, it’s great to see kids out riding their bikes, people flying kites and throwing a Frisbee, walking their dog or simply reading a book under a tree or having a picnic.
Just taking a meandering walk around is a great way of just totally distressing from the week that has just passed. It’s also lovely to take a dip in the ponds, hear the birds and see the wildlife.
Whenever I have tourists visiting from abroad, a walk through the Heath is a must. Most of them recognise Kenwood House from the Notting Hill movie but it is seriously so beautiful- like a picture you’d see on the box of a jigsaw puzzle! If you haven’t been, make the journey and, well, just go.

You can't beat packing a picnic perhaps a bottle of wine and heading for the bandstand on Hampstead Heath with family and friends to enjoy the free concerts that are held there over the Summer. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
