Gig of the week: Harry's Gym at Jazz Cafe, Mon 7 February

Mon 7 Feb, 2011
Jazz Cafe, tickets: £10 advance

Each week the Mayor of Camden is recommending a gig of the week as part of his work to promote Camden's rich musical heritage.

This week’s recommendation is Harry’s Gym, who are playing the Jazz Café alongside Monarchy and Bright Light Bright Light as part of the Next Big Thing series of gigs.

Described as like a “female fronted Fleet Foxes mixed with The Knife”, this Norwegian group’s sound is at once elegant and ethereal, conjuring images of their snow-swept mountain fjord home.

Named after an abandoned fitness centre in the same building as their rehearsal space, Harry’s Gym will entrance you with their melancholy, lightly electronic, nu-gazey pop.

"Its really no mean feat to simultaneously sound this heavenly and down to earth" - Q
