The first supper

The award winning Expeditionary Force will be performing their new sketch act, 'The First Supper' at the Camden Fringe from Sunday 14 to Tuesday 16 August at Etcetera Theatre.

The First Supper brings together their most popular material in a show where ancient gods, modern foibles and the nature of infinity collide to create an hour of the slightly sinister and the very silly.

They are just one of the acts performing at this year's Camden Fringe.

We spoke to Expeditionary Force to find out more about the show.

What is your show about?

The First Supper is our first full-length show, and is a collection of some of the sketches that we have been performing on the comedy and cabaret circuits over the last year. There is no overall theme as such, but we have noticed that we seem to have a preoccupations with priests, policemen and the repeated use of the word 'meat'. We tend to find the moments of uneasiness and disillusionment in life. And then make them funny, with any luck.

Why should people come along?

If they want something a little different from their sketch comedy! We decided to keep away from catchphrases, recurring characters and outrageous outfits to concentrate on the comedy of ideas. So if you have ever worried about the complications of working in an infinite supermarket, or want to know how to make small talk when your daughter comes home with an ancient Egyptian god, then our show is pretty much essential viewing.

What's your favourite joke?

A man walks into a pub. He says ouch. It was an iron pub.
No, wait. That's not right.
