Love to eat
Finchley Road is a real treat for connoisseurs of Asian food with this flavoursome cuisine dominating the restaurant scene. There is also a good selection of cafés and patisseries with international flavours, and a farmers market just outside Swiss Cottage tube on Wednesdays.
Louis Hungarian Patisserie
A charming café in the middle of Finchley Road. It started life as a Hungarian café but today the menu has more of a Polish flavour, serving up perogi, goulash and zrazy. The tinkling of the piano keys creates a relaxing ambience at the weekend.

Finchley Road is more than a giant thoroughfare in and out of London. Scrape below the surface and you’ll discover a community with excellent shops, entertainment, restaurants and a few cultural surprises. Swiss Cottage boasts what Time Out rates as London’s best leisure centre, which is a gem in both sporting and architectural terms. Alongside Swiss Cottage library and a landscaped park – complete with a water basin with 15 metre arcs of water – this represents urban regeneration at its best.
Love the nightlife
You can drink locally and watch televised sport in comfort, free from the crowds of Camden Town and Hampstead pubs and bars.
The North Star
The main pub in the Finchley Road area, spread over two floors, there is plenty of space to sit and watch football and other sports. There is also a spacious beer garden and the pub operates a no under 21s policy.

Love to enjoy
Amongst the functional roads and buildings of Finchley Road and Swiss Cottage you will find unexpected cultural hotspots, surprising architecture and award-winning facilities.
The Freud Museum
Get your neurons buzzing. Freud and his family moved to leafy Maresfield Street after he and his family fled Austria during World War II. Inside you will find a collection of the antiquities, Freud’s library and the original ‘shrinks couch’ where his patients reclined.
