Fair in the square
Join in the fun at Highgate’s Fair in the Square on Saturday 18 June.
Between 12.30 and 5.30pm on Saturday 18 June, Pond Square in the heart of Highgate Village will be filled with entertainment and events for all the family.
If you're going along, let us know what you're looking forward to the most.
We asked Marje Isabelle, Chair of the Fair in the Square Committee, for more information:
What are the highlights of this year’s festival?
“The highlights of this year's fair are 200 local performers from local choirs, ballet schools, exercise classes, stage schools, ranging from the age of four to 84 performing on two stages (the main one in Pond Square and the second in the forecourt of St Michael's Church). The Mayor Camden is opening the Fair at 1pm. Highgate's Pearlie King and Queen will be joined by Pearlies from other London boroughs.
“We have more than 130 stalls representing local charities, societies and small traders and delicious food. Many of the stalls have games and competitions, others are selling gifts and plants and unusual items.
“Children can make draw and masks, have their faces painted, dress up and generally be creative in the Cass Art Kids Tent. They can ride roundabouts, jump on the bouncy castle, or scale the climbing wall. Miss and Mr Ballooniverse will make fantastic balloon creations; there are Punch and Judy shows and street entertainers. We are hoping police dogs and horses will appear and we have a fire engine from Kentish Town White Watch.
“There is also a dog show (fully booked) in the forecourt of St Michael's Church where afternoon tea is served and people can climb the church tower.”
What is your most memorable experience from past fairs?
“Watching all the children and parents dancing and singing in accompaniment to acts on the stage. Seeing so many people of all ages smiling and enjoying the day and spending time having fun in the heart of our beautiful village.”
What’s the address for the fair?
“Pond Square, South Grove, Highgate, London N6 5BS.”
