To mark Refugee Week, the Wiener Library is pleased to be screening a remarkable film examining the experiences of twenty-five men and women who came to Britain as refugees from Austria.
'Double Exposure' draws on the unique interviews of the Association of Jewish Refugees’ Refugee Voices Audio-Visual History Archive, housed at the Wiener Library. The film explores the double nature of the relationship between the culture originally inhabited by refugees, and their adopted culture.
The screening will be followed by a Q and A session with some of the interviewees, the director of the film Dr Bea Lewkowicz, and Dr Anthony Grenville, author of ‘Jewish Refugees from Germany and Austria in Britain’ (2009).
Admission is free of charge, but places must be reserved in advance by emailing info@wienerlibrary.co.uk or calling 020 7636 7247.
