Tonight sees the launch of V&V Music, the new record label from trumpeter Jack Davies, supported by the Deutsche Bank Award for Performance and Composition with the Royal Academy of Music. Three albums are being launched tonight – self-titled records from Flea Circus, Southbound and The Jack Davies Big Band (hailed as Loose Tubes for the next generation).
Performing tonight are Flea Circus and Southbound, two contrasting acoustic small groups. The warm nocturnal sound of Flea Circus is distinctly European, while Southbound’s intimate explorative music is a blend of classical influences and free improvisation.
Flea Circus:
Jack Davies – trumpet
Rob Cope – bass clarinet / clarinet
Aidan Shepherd – accordion
James Opstad – double bass
Southbound:
Jack Davies – trumpet
Rob Cope – tenor
Tom Taylor – piano
Jon Ormston – drums
