Chip off the old block
According to reports, 87% of the population love chips.
Winston Churchill called them "the good companions". John Lennon smothered his in tomato ketchup and Michael Jackson liked them with mushy peas.
To celebrate national chip week we asked our fellow Love Camdenites for their favourite plaices (ahem!) in the borough to indulge in a large portion of our all time favourites.
With salt or pepper, gravy or mushy peas, mayonnaise or in a butty, the list of chippies below will make you wish that everyday was a Fryday (boom boom).
Fryer’s delight
Called “the tastiest fish and chips in town” the inside of this chippy has remained the same since it opened in 1962. It is also the first chip shop to appear in a video game when it featured in the 2002 release of The Getaway. Take away or eat in and soak up its old school charm.

North Sea Fish Restaurant
This family run business tucked away in Kings Cross, is one of the landmarks that London Taxi Drivers need to know when doing ‘The Knowledge’. Make sure you know all about it and book a table.

Olivers
With a unique batter recipe that the restaurant prides itself on, this traditional fish and chip restaurant keeps people coming back time and time again. If you want to eat in, booking in advance is highly recommended or alternatively you can choose to have your chips delivered directly to your door with their home delivery service. It also only uses vegetable oil so is veggie friendly.

The Nautilus
Recommended by Joan Vernon (via facebook) The Nautilus has been owned by the same Greek family for over 50 years with regulars heading to this ‘local gem’ on a Friday night. With large portions, the difference is that their fish is only available grilled or fried, Jewish-style, in matzo meal rather than batter which regulars describe as way tastier and less greasy.

The Traditional Plaice
This award winning chippy has hungry hoardes queuing out onto the street. However, be patient, the fish and chips have been called top class. It was also recommended by @BelloreLondon
