Join Mr Eks carnival of Camden culture this July

For one month only, Mr Eks will share his passion for all that is Camden, putting visitors to camdenplayers.co.uk in touch with the boroughs best kept secrets, hidden places and interesting people.

We decided to interview the mysterious Mr Eks to find out a bit more...

Who is Mr Eks?

I sometimes wonder this myself, such is my air of mystery. Suffice to say, I have been a presence in the cultural underground since before the cultural burrowing machines that there could even be an underground had yet to be invented. That's obviously quite a long time. Any time you have met an individual and thought, 'this is somebody who clearly knows where the next party is, and who he needs to know to get in there', that probably would have been me.

How do you make your predictions?

I have travelled the breadth of the Earth in study of a variety of prognosticatory methods, from Himalayan head-fondling to Kentish coast whelk-whispering to develop my own particular methodology. Combined with the very latest psychological and anthropological theories, I have created a closely-guarded algorithm. It is watertight, highly scientific and in no way nonsense.

Why should people visit camdenplayers?

Because they are naturally highly intelligent and curious individuals, and would never turn down an opportunity for new horizons such as this!

Based on five choices, a participant reveals their ideal dream state. Re-staging this on my cut-out theatre, I am able to view this dreamscape and prescribe three exciting events suitable for their particular individual character. And the fun begins!

Why Camden?

I find it impossible to imagine being anywhere else. Camden is everything to all men and women. My good friend Samuel Johnson said that when one is tired of London, one is tired of life - without Camden, he may well have said 'when one is tired of London, that seems fair enough. Try Hull.'

What is your favourite part of Camden?

Can a shepherd choose his favourite sheep? Can a banker choose his favourite stock option? I love every square inch of this glorious borough, from the highest of Highgate to the lowest of Cantelowes.
