The team behind the Winchester in Islington and The Lodge Tavern in Ealing Broadway are spreading their wings with a new venue named The Betsy Smith. It will open its doors in mid September in the up and coming area of Kilburn. Michaela Reysenn and Landis Middleton of Kai Design are the brains behind the decor. Kai Design have worked on many popular venues throughout London including Montgomery Place (Notting Hill), The Lost Angel (Battersea), and The Winchester (Islington). The interior is something to talk about and will add a bit of fun to Kilburn High Road. Plus with such great drinks, food and late weekend DJ nights it is likely that The Betsy Smith will become a destination venue as well as pleasing the locals.

The entire concept is inspired by fantasy, the theatrical and a sparkle of fairground features. Inside you can find a giant Narnia style wardrobe which has been re-designed into a delightfully quirky & comfy seating area, a wall garden with pink flamingos, and Sailor Jerry's rum toilets. In fact you are forever finding new and interesting details within the design. The bare brick walls, rich red velvet curtains and dimly lit lampshades create a warm and cosy atmosphere full of nooks and crannies, perfect for gatherings with your friends or partner. Comfy chesterfields fill the front of the bar and dining tables fill the back. Then when the sun goes down the low level area at the rear of the venue, aptly named the burrow, fills with cocktail drinkers and wine slurping shadows.

A new mezzanine area overlooking the dance floor is home to the scratch and sniff gallery, courtesy of flavorleague in New York, for those who like to watch the dancing from above. This is also one of eight hire areas which are suitable for a variety of occasions, ranging from small intimate gatherings of 8-10ppl to larger parties of up to 120ppl.

Weekdays will be laced with the good old pub quiz, salsa speed dating, live music sessions and sport screenings, whilst weekends will have special guest DJs spinning an eclectic mix of funk, breaks, mash ups and party classics until 3am, a perfect antidote to the stress of your working week. This venue certainly has something going on to catch the interest of any passer-by.

Hearty Breakfasts with your choice of a large range of tea and coffee will be available every morning of the week, followed by a delicious menu of homemade pizzas and traditional pub grub with a contemporary twist. Whether you are after a quick business lunch, or a nice romantic evening meal this venue is certain to please. Sunday Lunch will be all about the Roasts with Yorkshire puds, crispy roast potatoes and all the trimmings followed by crumbles, cakes and tortes for dessert. If dessert isn't your thing, why not try a hot cocktail served in a teacup (or teapot if you're in a sharing mood). Betsy's favourite, the 'Chocwork Orange' is a delectably warm concoction of Kahlua, Chocolate liqueur, Grand Marnier, Vanilla Vodka and foamy milk and cream topped with chocolate powder

The drinks menu has a carefully selected wine list with reds to rouge your cheeks and whites to make the boys wink (?!?), alongside a selective range of draught and bottled beers....certain to impress the most discerning of beer drinkers. The inventive cocktail list offers well executed classics amongst some unusual yet delightful creations...think quince and rose petal versus honey parsnip, rhubarb and dolcelatte cheese. If you're not feeling brave enough to try one of these there is also an extensive collection of easy drinking cocktails, such as 'Bright Eyes' (Zubrowka Bison grass vodka shaken with fresh red apple, passion fruit and apple juice). Essentially, there is a cocktail to suit every drinker's taste buds, be it served in a jam jar, teacup/teapot, or classic cocktail glass.

The Betsy Smith will be open every day from 8am until midnight, Sunday to Thursday and 8am until 3am every Friday and Saturday!
