The second ever Pop Up Festival of Stories launches this summer with a public art event on Friday 29th June in the brand new Granary Square at King's Cross, involving extraordinary French artist Herve Tullet in collaboration with 300 local children and parents and students from Central Saint Martin's. Then there's two fun-filled days of completely free events for children, young people and families, celebrating books and stories in truly imaginative ways, including:

• The Guardian Bookshop and event space inside the East-West Link, featuring a host of children's authors and characters
• Plus events and activities throughout the weekend including with Camden & Islington Libraries, Discover Children's Story Centre, Ministry of Stories and First Story among others

A unique exhibition of contemporary art will be on show alongside the collection of ancient artefacts at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology in May. The show will feature the work of 12 artists from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
The exhibition is the result of a recent collaboration between the Petrie Museum and the University of the Arts London, which gave second-year BA Fine Art students from Central Saint Martins an opportunity to study the museum’s extensive archaeological collection. The students were asked to contemplate the ways in which civilisation has been portrayed through the museum, and how the object has been reconsidered under and after modernism. Their resulting works reflect their own personal take on the museum’s objects and the theme of historic representation.
